Sorry, Stephen, but what you have written makes no sense.

It is unclear what the * symbol means. Normally, it means multiply. If that is so, why are multiplying things by one? What is Vx? Does it mean V times x? What does dvx/dx mean? Are the capital V and the lower case v two different variables or constants?

I you resubmit the problem exactly as it was presented to you.suggest you

is Vx meant to be V subscript x?

Also - moose has not differentiated, just sloved algebraigically - what did you want doing?

I presume
dvx/dx
is "dVx by dx" i.e. you need to differentiate Vx with respect to x

bear in mind not always when terms are written next to each other does it mean multiply, Moose has had a go at interpreting your question but it is hard- please rewrite it as the original question is

I suspect it should read:
Vxb + q(x)dx = (Vx + dVx/dx dx)b

remember dx is to do with differentiating - they cannot be cancelled

I think you need to restate the equation. Is Vx=(V with an x for a subscript)? I don't see the need for all the 1's in the equation. I can't see a way to solve it the way I'm reading it.

Vx * b * 1 + q(x) * dx * 1 = (Vx + dvx / dx * dx) * b * 1

Vxb + q(x) *dx = (Vx + dvx / dx * dx) *B

Vxb + q(x)*dx = (Vx + v *dx) * B

Vxb + qdx (2) = (Vx + vdx) * B ( (2) = x squared)

Vxb + qdx (2) = B(Vx + vdx) ( (2) = x squared)

Vb + qdx = B(V + vd) (divide by x)

Vb + qdx = BV + Bvd

Qdx + V = V + vd
B

(divide by b) note above - there should be a line under QDX and it is divided by B

Qdx = vd
B

note above - there should be a line under QDX
