Im very surprised.....
9 pick the 1000 sq. ft. bigger house,
7 pick the vacation.
The reason I ask this is because we have
already made a trade off in the US.
We have collectively decided to work far
more, and take less vacation time off.
We work an average of 9-10 more hours
a week than we did in 1980.
To compensate, the US economy has created something called the Mc Mansion,
and something called the SUV.
Both are supersized versions of smaller
products, just like Mcdonalds' discontinued
Supersizing of fries and the like.
Both old versions were just fine, and cheaper to maintain and run.
So, in a very direct sense, we have collectively traded in 9 hours a week of work time for slightly bigger homes and cars.
Worth it?
Not in the sense that we only have one life
to live.
Not in the sense that nothing replaces
time relaxing and home instead of anxiously
venting at work.
Also, the Mcmansions come with the price
of crushing commutes and traffic jams.
Crazy, huh?
