Weird yes but it’s not going to be like Face/Off - only people with serious disfigurement will be offered the op.
So which is the more psychologically damaging - someone having a very badly disfigured face or the possibility of a new one?

Its a hard one, coz i can kind of understand it if they have as disfigurement (or like that french lady u said about)
but on the other hand could u imagine how it would feel for people? I would think it would have a psychologically damaging effect, for the person with the 'new face' and the family etc of the dead doner... just knowing about it?!?
its difficult

I watched the documentary last week on the French woman who had the first face transplant.
Seeing her before the operation and hearing what her life was like without a face, I would never criticise anyone wanting to go ahead with this procedure.

It would be very difficult for anyone to make a serious decision on said subject, unless of course they are in situation where as the face is totally damaged through severe burns or animal attacks etc. however It is a totally freaky concept,

it probably would be difficult to cope with emotionally, but you are not going to look exactly like the donor, your own facial expresions, mannerisms and way of forming words will help form the face to something new. Not the donor, not the old you, but something new.
I imagine anyone going through this has extensive counselling and support, if it was me or a member of my family, I would want it done. Better to have a face than look like that poor french woman did beforehand.

I guess if the person's natural face was destroyed somehow, it would probably help save that person's life. But I'm sure it would take lots of psychological therapy to deal with it. And too, the person's family who donated the face would really need lots of mental help.'

Lets face it.
You could be disfigured so badly that anything would do. But would anything do as you have to continue to take potions to prevent rejection. I get rejection now and I have my own face.
However it all depends on donors and compatibility.

i think it is good for burn victims, or someone's face who has scars (bad ones) from some sort of accident, but to get a full face transplant just for the hell of it is crazy.

Not as damaging as having to go through life seriously disfigured.

It's great if you are disfigured or the lady that was shot in the face. But if your doing it for cosmetologary reasons, then no.
