Trust me, the best thing you can do is be kind to them. This will piss them off more than anything. That person obviously is trying to piss you off and is happy if they succeed. Kill them with kindness. I had a simalar situation happen to me and at first I was getting even with this b ****** and I could see in her face that she was enjoying every minute. Finally one day, I started treating her really nice, smiling at her everytime she did her little "stupidities" to try to get me mad. I would compliment her. I could see the literal rage in her eyes. Till she finally stoppped. Trust me, kindness is the best way to piss somebody off who is trying to get you mad. Because they want to see you mad, and they are not succeeding. Instead you are killing them with kindess. Yes its a head game, but you are the one that has control and you have won! GOOD LUCK

This is something I say out loud to however is trying to make me mad and it usually works too, "Like gas, it too will pass" and then who ever is trying to make me mad knows that they are not winning because of the smile on my face when I'm repeating those 6 words over and over until they finally give up.
Sounds silly but believe me it works most every time too.

It's better to sit there and stew. But keep a poker face and don't let them know it. You know, sit there with a silly grin on your face. It will make THEM mad. And it works doubly well if there are other people around to see the action. Makes THEM look like a fool. The silly grin is a sure winner. I use it. Gets to them every time.

Does it really matter if you feel like you lost by removing yourself from that kind of company?
Do you really think you should consider it a loss..?
If it is a co worker it may be difficult but look at it for what it is and realize you have control how you let others allow you to feel.
If you do not give them that, this person will eventually see that and let it go...
Best wishes to you... :o)

Don't stew. Smile, smirk in their face, and if they see u arent getting mad, THEY will get mad.And its like a cycle.Once u see that they are getting mad, u'll smile more and that will make them even madder.

REALLY ignore them, not just sitting there and trying to make them SEE how much you are ignoring them. Stop trying to "win". Find something else to do.

sometimes in that situation you need to use reverse psycology. what ever you do, do not show any negative emotion for that will feed the fire so to speak. I tend to come back to statements made intentionally to make me angry with a simple nicely put answer of,"you just want to argue and I am not going to. When you want to discuss this situation rationally come to me." then i calmly remove myself from the imediate situation.

I just stand there quiet and ignore what they're saying if I can, or make silly remarks to deflect attention from it, like if it's at work and it's a customer saying rude things to get under my skin.

Whatever it is about them that causes them to try to anger you is their problem. If you see them as being pathetic, you won't react so much with anger.
I know they can still irritate you. But learning how to rise above irritation is a valuable skill. Use the situation to grow.

The best defense is to keep as quiet as possible. When my husband is trying to push my buttons it makes him so mad when I get quiet and keep to myself. He really wants a fight and I won't give it to him then yeah I win.
