It seems that the CDs, movies, restaurants they bash are often the best. Your thoughts?

I think critics are usually right abt restaurents...but are usually wrong abt cds and movies ^_^

I'm glad to hear somebody else thinks the same thing. The critics always seem to be wrong. The way I look at it is if they say a movie is good then its probably not. And when they say that the movie is no good, it turns it that I enjoy the movie.
My conclusion is that the critics are so separated from what people actually enjoy and like, kind of like politicians They might seem to know what everybody wants but don't have a clue. Specially the thumps up or down guys. It always seems like they just can't take it for what it is a MOVIE and thats all.

I don't know if I would call them wrong but they certainly have different criteria for rating things. Like others have said, I usually find I often like a movie or CD even if the critics did not and frequently can't stand movies or TV that they love. That's why I try not to read the reviews even though sometimes they are dead on.

People have different tastes. Critics look at these items from a professional standpoint. Doesn't mean they are right or even know really what it is that the public average person will like. But, yeah, I don't agree with the critics too often.

I believe that to a tee. First off most of the critics who write about this don't like to genre of movie or music they are reveiwing. They will say bad things and that in and of itself will increase sales. With respect to Restaurants it's really all about individual tastes.

Critics are indeed usually wrong. If I'd listened to the critics, I would have missed several movies and songs that I love.

I agree entirely.
In fact we will often go see a movie if it's been slammed, see what all the fuss is about.
Make up your own mind is the way to go.
It's great though that we can all be heard.

agree! if they hate something I almost always love it. most of them are total snobs, they're only ever interested in arty cultural stuff to make themselves look smart

I think they get paid to cause a stir...which they typically do.
