I take it you are from india - any international calls from a cell phone are very exspensive. rather go to a local landline tel. "shop" for you voice calls.
We have 3 service providers: vodacom, mtn and cell c.
My best advice is to buy a sim card & starter pack from S. Africa - u can get them anywhere, incl. supermarkets.
These are very cheap...+- R10 - R50. SMS are only about 40c per sms. so u can buy "pay as you go " vouchers when required - R29 ....R49....R99 etc

I believe Vodacom because it was the first and therefore it could be the most technologically advanced. It has more coverage in Southern Africa than any other cellphone service provider.

There is very little IF any difference between the 3 service providers. International calls are very expensive, and their is a cheaper option by using the internet, but I do not know how it works.
