Has anybody seen this kid play? He seems to be the best high school basketball player in the nation. I saw a couple of his games back when he played for Rose Hill in Ashland KY (back in the 7th and 8th grade) and he dominated games. Just was wondering what other people thought. If he is still as good as the hype says he is. i was also wondering if anyone thought he would skip college and go straight to the pros (like most seem to do) or if he was going to college and where.

Oh yeah Petey I forgot about that new rule! Thanks for reminding me! He has to be at least 19 (is that right?) or be out of highschool one year. That is the silliest rule I have ever heard. One year isn't enough to make much difference, and a college coach spends too much time triing to recruit a player that he knows he will only have for one year! What do you all think?

Hey Craig, how's this for monster numebrs; I saw him score 50 pts as an eigth grader! granted the competition wasn't all that great, but just the athleticism needed to score 50 at that young an age versus highscoolers is amazing.

I saw OJ Mayo and Bill Walker play in the Ohio State Semis last year. They look like NBA rookies playing against 15 and 16 year olds. They both have NBA above-the-rim games. They're great on one-on-one situations and they're athleticism is unbelievable for teenagers.

The only problem is they can't go pro straight out of high school with the new NBA rules, so I see them spending one year at school in USC. Mayo has already verbally committed to USC, and I think Walker will follow.

Recruiting a guy like Mayo pays off if they make the Final Four in his one year. Some coaches don't care as much about graduation rates and such...they just want to win now. A program like USC fits that mold perfectly. They aren't known as a basketball school, but one year with OJ Mayo will put them on the map in college basketball. It will help with their future recruiting.

I saw him play when he was at North College Hill in Cincinnati, and he's definitely the best high schooler I've ever had the chance to see in person. He didn't always put up monster numbers, but he controlled the game at all times. What I liked is that he seemed to grasp fundamentals and the concept of team, which doesn't always happen with young guys.

His backcourt mate, Bill Walker, was also very good. Not as good fundamentally, but an amazing athlete.
