He was young (20) when he died and was an unintentional victim of a crime. I just want something short to post. Any suggestions for a certain poet, webpage or poem would be appreciated.

What the above guy said. Originality all the way, tell the guy how you felt, not how someone else felt.

If you want to say to a friend that you miss them, or convey what they meant and still mean to you, thin how much more it will mean to your friend if you tell him from your heart rather than copy someone else's words. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, but simple and heartfelt and truthful will mean so much to him, and also you.

I guess you don't really need to be looking for inspiration, but if you need something to start the ball rolling, I always thought these Hot Water Music lyrics (only part of the song, called Minno btw) were a nice way to think of a dead friend.

"....we heard and we hurt and we scorned we burned for last words now lost the silence we sat through the breakdown the laughter the shelter and the future you planned on-i'll miss them i hope you're in a better place with soul set free i hope you're still singing loud with soul set free too bad you're not around for us to see but i still feel you around like you never left us".

With compassion and no offense meant at all, can't you assume that "originality" in this case, might show a deeper concern, respect, and be as personal a "memorial" as one could possibly express?

YOUR own thoughts, and how you express them are the only true way to "honor" your friend.
