Yours is low enough to probably control it with diet. Reduce your sugar intake, including fruits and reduce overall carbohydrate intake, increase your protein intake. Also exercise, or at least walk a mile or so a day. With these actions, you should be able to reduce your blood sugar down below 100, which is where the Doc probably wants it.
I was in the same boat, and can keep it down when I do follow my own advice!

You may be able to manage your blood sugar with diet and exercise. There are special diets designed for diabetics-you can buy recipe books or find recipes on line. It may be a good idea to sit down with a nutritionist and learn the most you can about proper diet. Exercise can also help. Talk to your Dr-s/he may allow you a few months to try to bring your sugar into control before deciding if medicine is necessary. This will mean a new way of life, but it is totally doable.
I wish you luck.

You should already be in contact with your doctor. There are a number of factors which could account for the reading. You should have a glucose tolerance test performed to check your rate of absorption.
