America has historically gone to war reluctantly and of necessity. Lincoln, a Republican, declared the Civil War. Roosevelt, a Democrat, declared WWII. Both had ample reason.

Hitler was limited by lack of resources and eventually lost the war for that reason, but he did send U-boats to our eastern coast and the Gulf of Mexico. He even tried, with an encrypted message, to incite Mexico to attack our southwestern states.

Saddam Hussein was an avid follower of Hitler.

The real question is, were these wars justified and worthwhile? World War II had to be fought. Grenada did not. Neither did the current Iraq War. These were Republican Wars of Choice.

Only Congress has the power to "declare" war. Certainly, Presidents in the past have asked Congress to declare war, but the power rests solely with the legislature.

Neither. If we don't come together as a Country soon, we may have another civil war and who will be able to pinpoint who started it?
Self destruction is a no win situation but hating seems to be more important to too many.
