Hell yes it will hurt. This will be a pain you have nothing to compare to.
Now, the truth.... It will hurt, but it will hurt so much you most likely will not remember the exact pain. Plus, take care of yourself while you are pregnant. Excercise - walk. Be sure to watch your diet. A pregnant woman truly only needs about 600 calories more in a day while pregnant.
I don't understand the question as to whether this will hurt or not. You ding dong! Everyone knows that child birth is painful. Trust me, it is. It is also the most wonderful thing in the world to experience. Also, if a woman does not have the pain, medical rumor has it that there is not the bond formed. The mothers who used to have the spinal blocks used to suffer more post partum depression & be more withdrawn from their own children. I guess there is something to the whole pain of child birth that brings us closer to our children. Maybe we just need to have that pain to hold over their heads the rest of their lives. (hahaha).
Learn lamaz (sp?) & prepare yourself for labor & delivery. It will be hard. I won't lie. But it is also a very beautiful part of your life. Be sure to eat well & lightly exercise while you are pregnant & you will be healthy & in good shape to push, push push!

At some point during the contractions, before you start delivering, you can get a shot that will not affect the baby and will block the pain. But you do go through pain of contractions for some time before you are far enough along for the shot. And also don't wait too long, or you will be too far along for the shot. When you get to the hospital and they confirm you are actually going to have the baby (not false labor), I would tell them then you do want the shot for pain, so they know to give it you at the right time. I would even start telling you doctor now that you will want the shot. But what pain you go through honestly will be so worth it to have your dear baby.

The actual vaginal pain is not something you really register. Its the contracting muscles of the uterus and back that cause the bulk of the pain.
The epidural might be something you'll want to look into.
But look at it this way. Women have had natural labors and deliveries for EONS, and most women have multiple children. If it were really so horrific they wouldnt make the same mistake twice :) The end really does justify the means in this case.
Its only as bad as the fear you have over it.

if you get an epiduarl, which isn't THAT bad it will lower the pain of the contractions and will be better once the baby is pushed out. My contractions hurt before I got the epidural and then everything was a breeze after it. The weeks after the baby though will be painful. you will bleed alot, have engored breasts and bad cramps which they should give you motrin for, but it really doesn't work. Good Luck with labor

It doesn't matter in the end.
I didn't go into labor. I was 10 days late and my doc scheduled a C-Section. Recouperating from that surgery was rough -- and I hurt bad for 3 weeks and had some continuing pain for weeks after. Vaginal delivery is much, much easier to recover from. Labor pain varies from woman to woman. Some say they went into labor and "pop" there was the baby -- others have long and painful labor.
Talk to your doctor about your fear. It's normal. But when they lay that baby in your arms you'll forget all about it.
And if they offer you drugs, take them! Make it as easy on yourself as you can.
Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy. Don't let a fear of labor and delivery cause you not to enjoy this wonderful time!

Yes it will hurt like hell! Get the drugs. It will be the worst pain ever but you will not remember the actual pain when its all said and done. Childbirth makes you stronger and nothing else on earth is more rewarding. When you look at your child anything that you may have gone through will be totally worth it. DO NOT try to do it without drugs. I did it once and it sucked!!! Your baby will be fine, the drugs don't effect them.

everyone is different..it all depends on how the labor goes, your body and tolerance for pain...my labor wasnt too bad...the only time i actually reall hurt was during a contraction, my son was facing face down so it put all the contractions into my back...OUCH...i had an epidural even though i wasnt in too much pain just because you never know what will happen...my son was facing face up so he wasnt coming out very easily...i pushed for 2 hours and he wasnt budging..finally the doctor seen that i was pooped out and got forceps which is scarey..
10 minutes later they pulled him out..he was bdaly bruised and cut up on the face, but he was here and alive...
i didnt do the lamaze thing, i figured out my own breathing technique...when a contraction came that hurt alot, i just breathed deeply and slowly until it went away, and it worked for me..
good luck to you...just hang in there even though it seems like you will be in labor forever...i did it for 32 hours...

Congratulations. Same thing happened to me.
Yes it is painful, but it is the kind of pain one can endure easily.
Your body knows what it is doing. It puts you in a state of mind that can ignore the pain if you relax and let it happen. All you have to do is lie there.
You can always ask for an epidural if it's too much for you.
