No. But our President has so many people panicked about boogeymen and possible terrorists ("Hand over that deodarant, son, it might be explosive!") that I can see why some people might feel intimidated by anything that smacks of the Middle East.

No. Just like any other group of people on the planet, there are the informed, the uninformed, the intelligent, the not-as intelligent, the physically beautiful, the less physically beautiful, the stylish, the not-so stylish, the monetarily rich, the poor, the left-leaning, the right-leaning muslimahs (and veiled women of other faiths as well)... What is needed is to know these women's hearts. For the most part, they are kind and gentle souls who put God and family at the center of their life... what is intimidating about that? After all.. its just a piece of fabric... do you find traditionally dressed Catholic nuns intimidating? Is it perhaps more of a perceived *cultural divide* that is intimidating you? ... dont be intimidated, be respectful of their modesty and treat them like you would any other person.

not intimidating but i don't like it. people can believe what they want but if it unease's people maybe measures should be taken in order to change peoples views on the veils. for example the women that wear the veils stop wearing them as often or find a way for people to accept it. there is also the fact that other cultures coming into this country are taking over it. Britain's catholic, protestant and Celtic heritage is now being destroyed because people from other cultures do not like them. this is highly unfair as we are forced to accept their cultures. maybe the English should move to Pakistan or Bangladesh or any other country that is overspilling into the UK and demand the things that they demand. such as free health. translation for everything and then claim that every conflict is due to racism.

No i don't find women in veils intimidating. However if they cover themselves because they dint want anyone to see their beauty apart from their husbands and female family members. Then they need to be informed that men like women who wear more as it leaves a little to the imagination. In their case it makes men use all their imagination making them more desirable, i thought that was the very thing they were trying to avoid.

No, I don't find Muslim women dressed from head to foot in black flowing gowns with a black veil with only a slit so they can see where they are going intimidating - naive yes, particularly as they say they want to integrate into Western life and culture which they preferred to their homelands - otherwise there was no point in them coming here.
Muslim women in the UK have been diplomatic and able to integrate perfectly well into our society until recent years and we all welcome that. They wear clothes that don't make them stand out from the rest and they respect our traditions and cultures and don't take an arrogant stance and insist their hosts should accept the culture, dress and attitudes of their former homelands.
As for the minority, apart from their recent wealth resulting from oil and drugs, and their new found materialism, their mind set hasn't changed over hundreds of years so they will continue to find it difficult to integrate into our multi-culti society like others who have come to live here before them.
The question is 'Who are these people who want to go on living as if they never left their homelands to live in the Western World? Are they Iraqi, Iranian, Afghans? Who?
Also what is their purpose behind their decision to continue wearing their traditional dress? Are they trying to send us a message - we're different, we are here, get used to us!
I feel truly sorry for the Muslims who accept their new lives in the Western World and have integrated, when there is a section of their faith who seem so set on disintegration and having seen some on TV lately they are quite aggressive towards us.

Not intimidating, exactly. Sad, perhaps.... One person who answered says they have many Muslim friends; however, if you saw one of them in the street, how would you recognise your friend? Maybe one day we'll have 'iris recognition' on our mobile phones!
These ladies are women, certainly - but NOT, as someone says, "like any other woman on the street". How could you possibly know that if you can't see them!
I am not racist by nature and would honestly like to talk with one of these ladies; I would like someone to explain exactly why she has adopted the veil, especially as this form of dress appears not to be taught in the Koran.

I don't find women in veils intimidating, but I do understand the argument currently circulating in regards to veils.
If I was to visit a country that custom required me to cover myself up I would out of respect!
If you decide to visit / reside in a country you should respect their customs and abide by them, if only out of courtesy.
Motor bike riders are requested to remove their crash helmets when entering shops, banks etc simply as a security measure!

i do not personally, i believe that it is up to the individual to decide what they want to wear. But i can see that children can be scared of women wearing the veils especially children who are none Muslims.

Intimidating? Kind of hard to take someone all wrapped up like it's a year-long Halloween seriously.

No but i feel that they are not informed and empowered.
Why?
Because Kur'an does not require women to wear veils!!!!!!!!
This is true.
