It just depends on where you work and what their policy is. I had been at my company for 11 years. Also, nowadays most companies do not pay you for maternity leave. I took 12 weeks and had to use my vacation and sick time that I had built up. Not all companies will allow you to take 12 weeks though. I don't believe the Family Medical Leave Act applies to smaller companies either.

Well, FMLA (Family medical leave act) is 12 weeks of guaranteed time off for the birth of a child. The company HAS to hold your job for 12 weeks but they do not need to pay you for it unless you have accumulated leave time to use within that 12 week period (it's not 12 weeks PLUS your accumulated leave, it's your leave used during the 12 weeks).
Check with your HR department and do some research on FMLA laws and how they work in your state. FMLA is federal but it may vary from state to state, I don't know.
Good luck.

i think itd 1 year or 1250 hrs.
but it also depends on your employer and the size of the company.
I have about 6-8 weeks paid.. then PTO time or a few more weeks of unpaid leave.

To have paid maternity leave you have to have been there for 12 consecutive months, other wise you will be granted maternity leave but it will be unpaid.

In Australia it's 9 months by federal statute. They have to give you 12 months unpaid "parental" leave - the father can take it if the mother isn't going to.

it depends on your company. if your company is really small like about 50 or less employess than they don't have to guarantee your job. but if its a big company than they have to give u about 9 weeks the least, unless you hold a high position such as CEO or vice president than they don't guarantee that you will come back with the same position.

I think it depends on the employer. Look through your employee handbook for details, if you received one.
