remember PEMDAS. Parenthesis. Exponents. Multiply. Divide. Add. Subtract. That's the order you use when solving problems. See if there are parenthesis. Then exponents and so forth.

well, you always do what is in the parenthesis first, so five plus four is nine. the dot means multiply, so you then multiply six by nine. Your answer would be 54.
