Depends on one's outlook.
The east coast beaches are more commercialized compared to the West Coast beaches. If you prefer convenience, partyiing, enjoy both natural and human beauties you wil love the east coast.
On the other hand if you enjoy the serenity of nature, and like to "get away from it all" you will find the West Coast more to your liking.
Florida Keys though (where East Coast Meets West Coast) are simply incredible.,

Well, having lived in FL for 11 yrs and on both sides I would say Gulf side! Now if you like to surf or not really but any thing with boards it would be the Atlantic side. The waves are not any where near big but better than Gulf side. But as far as beauty and over all being pleasant I would go Gulf. I now live in Orlando and I miss the Gulf way more. The sand is nicer, and some times the water gets green blue. I love it, wish I were there and not at work! :) Enjoy!

Personally, I think that Clearwater has one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. (west coast)- Daytona and Cocoa (east coast) are both kinda destroyed and the sand isn't as white and the water isnt as clean and clear. People destroy them more because they are more of a party location than the west coast beaches.

It depends on what total package you're going for. If you want beautiful beaches and lots of rowdy partying 24/7, then the East Coast is for you.
Howevuhhh...
If you prefer beautiful beaches, warm, clear water, fabulous shells, breathtaking sunsets, restaurants & bars w/ a slightly more laid back atmosphere, go WEST!!

Eastern coast from the n.border to the keys. Beautiful further south you notice english is 2nd language. Daytona is your staple fun-o-rama But the west around tampa st.petersberg is pretty but irefer to the gulf of mex. as the flordian armpit. Think about it it is. Atlantic side is betta good new water.

Destin and Panama City are the two best beaches...they are clean and the water is aqua colored. The people in these cities are friendly and usually doesn't cost an arm and a leg to visit.

I prefer the southern gulf side. Someone mentioned the keys; but there is not much there - one at Marathon and one a little farther west at Bahia Honda State Park.

East coast....Daytona is awesome and then the besaches of the southeast . The west coast and gulf is gritty and filled with broken shells.

gulf side. so beautiful with its aquamarine color and u can see to the bottom even when waist deep. u dont have to worry about rough waves or getting swept out too far.
