My 7 month old had vomited some last night and it wasn't like his usual spit up, it smelled like vomit (stomach acid). It had a little food mixed in, but the puddles weren't any bigger than usual spit up (a little smaller than the palm of my hand). It wasn't everything in his stomach and he acted fine and had no fever. He did this about 4 times in an hour and then quit. I gave him about 4-5 ouces of Pedialyte and put him to bed and he didn't vomit any over night. But I am still worried. What do you think could have caused this, and is it safe to feed him well tolerated solids and formula or should I stick with liquids for a little while? His temp is still normal and he still isn't acting sick.

I fed him a little bannana and rice cereal and gave him some pedialyte for breakfast and he's not thrown that up. There seems to be a lot of viruses floating around here right now that it's like if you even step out of your house you'll get something.

I would call his doctor except I live on a military post where he gets a diffrernet doctor everytime and when I call the clinics all I can do is attempt to get him an appointment which most of the time is turned down because the idiot people there always tell me they don't have anything available. And get this we have a nurse advice line we can call, but it's only open from 7-7 weekdays and 7-5 weekends and half the time you get their answering machine and they never call you back. The healthcare system here sucks. My best bet would be to take him to the ER just to wait for 3-4 hours to be seen and then get told go home and give him motrin and pedialyte.

keep an eye on him. Give him lots of liquids and the "brat" diet. Thats bananas, rice, apples, and toast. Make sure he's peeing several times an hour if he continues vomiting. If it does continue, call the doc and get him checked out. No one said you cant call the doc if you're concerned about your child. If I were his doc, I'd rather get too many calls than not enough. :) best of luck!

Its perfectly normal. Babies, until after their first year, have incredibly tiny bodies. There simply isnt any room for organs, food AND gas.

Thats what causes spit up in the first place. Pressure from gas forces small amounts of a meal back out the way it came. What he ate makes no difference.

That an sometimes when babies cough, get something stuck in their throat, taste something yucky, or any other number of things, they put pressure on their stomachs and throats, causing them to up-chuck a little.

Perfectly normal.

Just continue on as usual. If it starts happening often, (like say, most of his meals) you might need to check his diet with your doctor and make sure theres not an issue.

But as it is, its perfectly normal.

As long as he isn't dehydrated, in pain, doesn't seem feverish, and it's not happening on an on going basis, he's probably ok. Dehydration is the biggest danger with vomiting.

Welcome to being a mother. This is the time of year for all the Flu colds cough stomach virus you name it. Give baby clear fluids until baby can go backto reguler diet.

I'm sure baby is fine - sounds like his tummy was just upset - it happens. I'd only worry if it was projectile, he had a fever, was acting funny, or just didn't stop.
