Would he not be brilliant, he gets into and lives his roles, his accent would probably be perfect, he'd probably build himself up for the action and can also(Pirates of the Carrabian etc) do the humour side of a good Bond(is definitely needed).
Plus next to De Nero & Pacino he's the greatest actor of his time, if not better but time will tell and his future output.

That's the whole thing Chris, for years it's been a "British only" thing why not when we've got "probably" the greatest actor of our time does he not get the "Greatest role" as for the other comments and all th e "no's" Is just my opinion and I'm sticking with it, he's no spring chicken and needs someting big " Pirates OTCB" is that but will that be his Epitaph? I think not.

Maybe, but it will depend on how he gets into the role. I find most characters he's played were 'outcasts' or a bit on the weird side.....but in a good way! He does such a fine job at playing roles like that. I would like to see if he could in fact pull off a character like James Bond. Interesting.

they are 2 thoroughly different seems and can't be compared... both are ultimate searching actors... Johnny Depp has a dismal hotness about him, that is seductive and mysterious, you not in any respect comprehend what he will do and his personality that makes him horny Daniel Craig is more effective all-american searching... he's rugged, athletic, and handsome... on good of that he rose to the best because the hot James Bond and has had large comments Johnny Depp has more effective of a fan base, yet they are about equivalent in seems provide or take, searching on the girls style I favor Johnny Depp

ok although Depp is an amazing actor, he could not be a James Bond. That character is way to "normal" for Depp. Maybe someone like Patrick Dempsey, or George Cloony, or even Hugh Grant... but not Depp.

Johnny Depp is a brilliant actor (my favorite) and handsome. His is best at playing offbeat quirky roles. No one does it better. Bond is too clean cut for my Johnny but he could pull it off. He played an accountant in "Nick of Time" and played it well.

He is not English. You cannot have an American in the British Secret Service. Plus his English accent is rubbish no i tell a lie it comes close to Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

Johnny Depp is great at a lot of things, but doesn't come across as sophisticated enough(the proper english gentleman),he's a comedy act.

hmmm i get what you're saying about the method acting, but would he really look like a Bond? To my mind he is more of a renegade character - he would make a brilliant villian... but n ot straight enough for Bond, me thinks :)
