I was wondering if someone could help me out. I've noticed two things going on with it lately. Whenever I move my screen back of if it gets a slightist little jar the screen will go kind of sriggly like ( kind of like changing tv channels) the second thing that is for some reason my latpop will lose time. In other words last night it was 2am and the time went back to 10pm someone said to me that it could be the battery? can someone out there that knows about gateways laptops help me out with this?

OK, for the screen thing: the flat cable connector is either breaking or broken, or simply not connecting well. Not too easy to fix for a novice.

The time thing: it might be the battery but when people are talking about 'the battery' they mean the CMOS battery on your motherboard; it has nothing to do with the big battery powering your notebook.

If your machine is still under warranty I suggest you bring it in for repairs. If not, ask a technical person to assist with the screen. It's possible to fix this by loosening a few screws and then reattaching the screen connector (if it is not damaged) but again, there is a lot of stuff that can go wrong here.

For the time thing: an intermediate solution (if you have an always-on internet connection) is to install a program that will automatically sync the time with an outside source (atomic clock). There are many such programs, here is a free one:

Hi!

This is a serious issue (the display). The TFT (or LCD) panel is connected to your video graphics adapter by cables. One of the might be broken (or on the verge of getting broken). See a IT specialist for more info on this one.
About the time... it might be the battery... since you BIOS stores the machine time, but, if, for some unknown reason, your time jumped from 2 am to 10pm, in an instant, well... I have no good news.
To determine, try this: set your time to the correct time of the day.. power off... remove battery... wait 5-15 mins the... install battery... power on... boot... check time. If the clock was reset, then, yes, it's the battery, if not... it either OS daylight saving (software issue) or system clock (hardware, on board).
I do hope it's the battery!

Good luck!
