Honda CR-V owners... will you tell me about your car?

Question

I have a '99 Honda Civic and really cannot justify selling it because it's been such a great little gadabout. But I also know that the day will come when it's gonna start needing service, and at that point I'll want a new car. SO....

I've been interested in the CR-V and wonder what current owners would say about theirs. I'm interested in the good and the bad so that I can make an intelligent decision. I'd also like to know whether you'd buy another one.

- What year is your model?
- Did you buy new or used?
- Did you go top or bottom of the line and are you glad/sorry?
- What would you change?

I've never driven an SUV or mini-SUV so I'm pretty green about this and before I start looking at other manufacturers' cars, I thought I'd first look at Honda.

PS ... I also wonder whether they're subject to flipping. And Honda Service ROCKS!! I shopped the service center before buying this car and was totally impressed.

I work at a Honda repair shop. The only complaints about the crv is the gas mileage about 23-28 depending on the person and their driving habits. The best thing about them is they are nearly indestructible. We have 3 of them that are rural mail carrier cars up and down dirt roads in Arkansas. No real problems as long as you keep it serviced and keep the timing belt replaced when due.

i was car shopping just a month ago. id go with either the civic or the Rav-4. Civics are more sporty, but smaller than the corolla. fuel economy is about the same. toyotas are known to be more reliable, but honda's are right up there with them. The rav-4 is a lot bigger than the cr-v and if you want a mid size suv, that'll be my recommendation. they are both at opposite ends though, the civic and the rav-4
