first you need the proper amp. one that puts out about the same rms as your sub. once you have that you have to run a wire from you battery to your trunk for positive. then run a remote turn on from your head unit to your trunk, so the amp turns off with the rest of the car. then a ground wire from the trunk to your amp. now the amp should have power. now run RCA cables from your head unit to your amp. finally, run speaker wire from your amp to your sub box. your done.

it depends on amps, watts dimentions of the sub. You need to build the box to suit each sub to get best performance!

If you're not sure and you don't have any electronics experience, have a professional install it. It will save you a lot of potential serious problems or failures with improper hook-up.
