The best and worst year of my life, I was also 22. I moved to Hawaii.

Went from making fairly good money in the states to constantly worrying about where my next dollar would come from.

Learned to scuba dive and saw eagle rays wingtip to wingtip, learned to hang-glide and blasted off the 2000' cliff at Moccupupu, learned to windsurf badly, after lots of work I finally got to where I could surf the easy stuff.

Bought an old BMW motorcycle covered with rust and polished it up like new. Made lots of friends from all over the world, that sadly I never kept up with. Had an emotional roller coaster ride with the love of my life that ended most horribly.

I lived about ten years that year. Would love to do it all again...but maybe knowing what I know now.

When I was a child, between the ages of 5 and 10, any of those years could be the best year of my life.
I had no worries, no problems, my family was a united front that could stand anything and I saw the world as a huge wonderful place full of amazing people and thousands of adventures to be lived. Everything was a playground and a opportunity to discover something new and everyone around me was a friend.
I couldn't see evil, greed and cruelty. I was truly happy.

1999. A guy I had been dating gave me an all-expense paid, 2 week trip to Arizona as my 32nd birthday present. I didn't even need to use my own spending money, and he had sent me enough money to cover babysitters for my only child for that 2 weeks. The weather was very much to my liking there, and the sunsets were awesome! I really didn't want to come back home! This was also the same year that I finally managed to get myself off of state assistance and rejoin the world of the working force...

I keep looking at each year of my life as a little better than the last one. I'm of the opinion if I label one year as the best then there is something wrong with how I lived all the other ones before and after that. Each year brings good and bad and I try to celebrate the good and fix the bad.

Enjoy your day. :)

Year one. I had access to the best milk available I was the cutest little thing Mom and Dad ever saw I had no comprehension of evil, death, pain, and sorrow. I was loved unconditionally held with warm arms and swathed in safety and trust. I had no worries, my life was filled with wonder and beauty, I only knew love. I didn't have to verbalize it, didn't have to question any of it and there were no ulterior motives behind any ones eyes. If I was in danger people would go to extraordinary lengths to prevent harm. Men would die to save me, women would give up their lives so that I could live, and none would want reward from me.
The first year of my life was the best. Blissfully ignorant of lies and deceit never concerned about being unloved or cheated. I had a trusting view of my world and hadn't been taught to covet or want. All I could see was endless days of Gods good gifts and all I had were nights of sweet sleep.
Year one was the best year of my life. After that everything was an uphill climb going downhill to my final rest.

There has been more than one 'best' year. The first was the year I had my first child. Ditto the year my second son was born. One year that has to be at the top of any list is the year God gave me back my third son, whom I had lost.
And God forgive me for putting it in print, but very near the top was the year I divorced my husband! Now THAT was a great year! Even my sons celebrated!
You know, life hasn't been half bad. I hope yours has as many happy memories as mine. And thanks for bringing them back to mind!
