A computer is about 0 and 1.
Switches so to speak. Either on or off. Such a switch is called a bit. 8 of those go into a byte.
The previous posters got it right. It is all about counting how much a computer can 'remember' (when talking Hard drive in Gigabytes) and how much it can work with at the same time (usually talking in Mega). But there is no difference really.
That is the answer to your question. The Giga is (usually) for the total a computer can store and the MB is for the working memory of the computer.

Giga Byte(GB) and Mega Byte(MB) are unit of measure for the storage disk capacity. MP3 Players contains storage disk internally which comes in various capacities which includes: 256MB 512MB 1GB 2GB and so on... 1000 MB makes 1 GB. Hence, a 1GB MP3 Player can store more songs/data.

A megabyte(MB) is 1,000 bytes. a gigabyte(GB) is 1,000,000 bytes or 1,000 megabytes(MB)
