Come on... Talent is a gift from nature wich, talent is something important, like arts, sports etc. Well, rapping is not an art for sure, and everybody can do it,even my grandma. Rythm is required if you are a musician, or a singer etc, not a rapper.

I love this question. Once again, it gives people the reason to make general statements about rappers just by what's shown on MTV or BET. With that being said, it does take talent, but 98% of the rappers out right now refuse to use it. I know this because i actually listen to rap so i can make a statement about it. Also, if you know absolutely nothing about something, you shouldn't really make statements like some of you people on here. I don't know anything about country music, so i'm not going to go on a country music question & make stupid, pointless comments just because i can.

Here's my long five-step answer.
(Warning: if you read on, you may become more open minded)
1. Read the following verse and actually think about what it is trying to say:
"Snap back to reality, Oh there goes gravity
Oh, there goes Rabbit, he choked
He's so mad, but he won't
give up that easy, no
He won't have it , he knows
his whole back's to these ropes
It don't matter, he's dope
He knows that, but he's broke
He's so stagnant, he knows
When he goes back to his mobile home, that's when it's
Back to the lab again, yo
This whole rhapsody, better go capture this moment
and hope it don't pass at him"
2. Read it out aloud. Try to get a sense of the latent rhythm.
3. Imagine the possible beat and harmonies that could underpin this verse.
4. Listen to the actual performance.

5. Quietly show admiration.

Anybody can rap. Just look at the dudes that sing Laffy Taffy. But being good at it takes talent. You have to be able to put words together to fit the concept of the song and ride the beat. so yes it takes talent ot be a GOOD rapper

Is this a poll?
With no offense to anyone, Rap shouldn't be considered music. BUT seems to be an expression form, so many relate to.
Within it's often graphic language, and large disrespect shown in many lyics, to the female gender, I believe in it's sing songy, rhymey way, the "Artist" might only be stating issues that might be considered impossible to state in many other forums or formats.
Certainly in it's most general sense, to deliver a RAP, poetically, does take talent, but it's not at all what I classify as "music"

it does take talent.. its not 3rd grade rhyming.. talented hip hop artist can tell you a story in rhymes.. not go rat mat pat..Why must people always put hip hop down.. you dont hear us saying how talented do you have to be to wear tights like girls tease your hair and scream into a mike do you? Id like to see you try coming up with a rhyme like biggie did or tupac, you would never be able to do it.

of course it does theres a million miles between someone who is a good rapper and 90% of the **** that you see on mtv. But if you search enough there are some real poets out there. Chester P is a british guiy who hardly anyone knows anout but he's great. And what about ice cube pre predator album he's talking about some serious political issues. Dont let MTV Base destroy your impression of rap

No. All it takes it being able to rhyme and putting a beat to it.
Though, it DOES take talent to actually be any good as far as people going, " Wow, that rapper actually has talent. "
Also, it takes constant use of words " b--ch " " muthaf---a " " ho " and " n-gg- "
Optionally, have a criminal record, have prostitutes around, be high a lot, be a drug dealer, be a pimp, or be part of some gang fighting a turf war for real reason other than as an excuse to shoot people, or any other stereotypical gig that works well for you.

I think rappers have to know how to rhyme. And how to make it sound good. But as for talent, I think rock groups have it harder because they usually write their own music, and the instruments as well. That seems more talented to me
