Against it, ok... Disagree, but ok. Disgusted by it? That seems a bit extreme.

I support them.
The idea of marriage wouldn't be so bad if it were more personal and less political. Being with someone shouldn't give you a leg up in society(tax breaks and public approval). The disgust is easy to understand if you consider all the hype around weddings(David's Bridal commercials and the convention center conferences). Also the sanctification of these arrangements can leave one feeling sour, when statistically 52% end. If you factor in how many stay married when they are desperately unhappy, you're looking at a 25% success rate maybe even less. It may not even be marriage itself but the way our society educates each generation about it.
I like the idea of two people caring enough about each other to say that they have no interest in physically being with other people. But true marriages are rare. Plus the programmed wedding vows are an insult to the intelligence of people who are supposed to be mature enough to make this kind of commitment.
I say down with weddings and bring back hand-fasting and jumping the broom.

Not saying all, but for the most I say it is probably because either they had failed in marriage or can't find anyone to marry them. Usually people who are against something so much it turns to being disgusted by it means they have failed and cannot find happiness in it so they do not want anyone else having that joyous feeling. Oh well, who cares what they think anyways.

I think marriage is good. Studies have shown that there is more contentment and satisfaction in a relationship in which the people are married. I read about a study on the Internet which said that even sex was better for people who where married to each other. And if marriage does'nt work, there is the option of divorce.

I'm not against the institution of marriage, but I refuse to marry again if that is what you asking. I've been married to two different men, two strikes and I'm out. However, I will say this though, it taught me a vaualble lesson, rely on myself, not anyone else.

Hmmm..I think it's odd to be digusted by marriage..It's great when 2 people commit to each other. If it didn't work for them, it obviously works for some....

As a happily married woman (11 years) I would hope they would open their mind a little. Maybe the right person could change thier mind.
