I work with alot of Philipino women. They will work almost every day, 12 hour days, 6 or 7 days a week, signing up for overtime like crazy. Most of them have little kids, usually who the grandma is raising because they work so much. Why is working the priority in their culture.

same reason everyone works - money. maybe they grew up without much and want to be able to buy nice things for their kids, or send them to good schools, or give them a decent start in life. Its not like they're being left with a childminder - Asian families do tend to be close knit and all help with the raising of children. Just a culture difference. Working and children arent mutually exclusive priorities - maybe they're working to provide for their children.

They come to this country with the dream of bringing the rest of their families here. They work hard and long hours-unlike Americans that take our lifestyle for granted. Children are cared for by the elders and who knows if they are suffering? I believe in quality time versus quantity. We cannot judge them-we don't know...

Asian women?? Look at all the American women who put their careers ahead of their children. I doubt that Asian women have anything over the Americans.

some people have no choice .. if the husband left or died or they are single...At least they care enough to work..
