Make some egg mayonnaise (hardboiled eggs mashed with mayo) add a little ketchup to make it orange, then add diced bits of cucumber and red pepper so it looks like puke! tastes nice though, just serve splodges of it on halved bread buns. I make a drink called vile concoction. it's just orange squash to which you add blue food colouring, then add things like smashed up ice-pops, cubes of jelly, anything you like. If you are preparing for trick or treat visitors, get a box which you fill with shredded tissue or similar, then put sweets, plastic creepy-crawlies, etc. underneath, then ask kids to put their hands in and have a feel. they love it! For a film, you can't go wrong with the scream movies or scary movie-really good fun! Hey, I wish I was coming, it sounds really good! :)

Food Chicken and Chips go well at parties. You could get a cam-corder and make your own movie during the party and at the end of it you could show it to your guests they and you will get a laugh at each other and how funny you all were. I would get a big bean pot and heat up hot chocolate cider for drinks. Boobing for apples. A treasure hunt such as Halloween items they have to get from the neighbors they can not go buy them from the store and they have to be given free OK no cheating here then you take the items when nobody is looking after the game and hide them outside then draw a map with hints they have to go find them again lol it is allot of fun when you have enough folks chasing around trying to get to them before the others do you could also mark them in case they find somebody Else's stuff put names on the object. Folks will hide them and take them it is Hilarius what they will do to win this game.Depends on the age group you didn't mention the time which would of helped. There are so many neat thing you could do I could spend all day going over them lets see a ghost story goes well with all the effects enclude all guest so they feel a part ofi. Good Luck and Happy Halloween

Food: Cookies make them into fingers. Red punch. You can find a bunch online if you google Halloween food ideas.
Costumes: Try to give it a theme. Like Death. Everyone has to come as something dead. Like a dead bride or dead prom queen and so on.
Movies: Well not many scary movies are not gory but boogeyman, Grudge, White Noise, and Stephen King movies. Try asking someone who works in a movie store they can help you out a lot.

First off, MUSIC! I have several hours worth of Halloween songs. They include tv show themes (Adams Family, Munsters), 'classics' (Monster Mash, Flying Purple Ppl Eater), & some unexpected ones (Black Magic Woman, Witchcraft). I mix in sound effects between songs and it really sets a mood. Decor; decorate the place with webs and skulls. Buy a dvd or video game with spooky effects. If you can, block off a room and fill it with black lights. Be sure to have a rocking table setup or foods. For foods I love the kitty box idea. I use vanilla granola and mini candy bars. Bake it about 5 minutes, just long enough to melt the candy so it looks a little runny and the granola sticks to it. Cut cheese sticks (Mozarella), make slices to look like knuckles, and use pieces of green pepper or sliced almonds as finger nails. Sliced apples drizzled with caramel. And of course the usual chips & dips, veggie plates, etc. We always make trick or treating the center activity but if you dont have kids theres always costume contest, movie marathons, and drinking games. Have fun!

Ooh, when I was younger we made strawberry jelly mix with a little bit of milk to make it pink, then poured it into a rubber glove (if you are really good, you can add strawberry laces for veins and sit the glove upside down), tie the ends with elastic bands and put it into the freezer to set. Then just before your party take the glove out of the freezer, cut the glove off and pour raspberry source over the end of the wrist part to make it look like a severed hand.

I went to a scary vicars and tarts party once which went down very well. Huge bowl of curry (one veggie one meat) is easy to do and for movies would suggest the ring, or the Omen, to be really scary or else Scary Movie for fun.

Some recipe hints available here: http://www.spookmaster.com/pumpkin-carving-patterns-recipes.htm
As for movies - how about The Witches of Eastwick; Dracula or even Blade
