run with ankle weights and do squats and leg lifts. RUN. practice your sprints. keep your body fat at a minimum. match your leg exercises with upper body & arm exercises - the best track athletes have upper body mass to add to their explosiveness. drink milk (you have until 18-21 to grow) and always STRETCH before doing any strenous sport. abstain from sex if you can. practice your shooting and dribbling too.

im 15 years old and 5'9, my basketball coach gave me some tips to help me able to dunk for our team.. if u have a gym membership go to the gym and there should be a machine to help u work on ur calves ( it puts weight on ur shoulders and u stand up on ur tippy toes repeatedly) the calf muscle is the hardest muscle in the body to strengthen. If u work out ur calves jumping will come easier to u...squats are the second most important excersice to consider when trying to jump higher....i can dunk a volleyball now and at the beginning of the year i could only dunk a tennis ball.

A well determine will probably be to do calf dips. Most persons bounce in particular with their Quadriceps and that is wherein many of the peak comes from, however plenty of the leaping additionally comes on the final on the spot whilst the ft push off, that is all calves. The well information is it is whatever you'll be able to do anyplace. Find a few stairs and placed your ft at the side, allow your frame drop down and raise along with your ft up. Try and do them in an explosive system (such as you have been leaping) however do not depart your ft. Something else you'll be able to do is whilst you're simply messing round play with one million pound ankle weights on. This will aid your explosiveness and make your ft faster whilst you're taking them off. I am now not definite if you'll be able to palm the ball however should you cannot on the way to make matters less difficult, paintings available force for that.

Eat well and get plenty of sleep. To increase your jumping ability, do toe raises on steps. Buy a weight vest - one where you can add 4-ounce weights to the small pouches on it - and wear it around the house until you adjust to it. Then practice jumping and do your toe raises while wearing it. Then start wearing when you play basketball in a gym - not on the asphalt or concrete.

You should spread out your arms and squat all the way down to the ground about 100 times every night.
