Racism, the belief that one race is inherently superior to another, is more about race than colo(u)r.

I think people are racist now for totally different reasons than 50 years ago. What has happened in new york, london and other countries have turned innocent people into racists because the victims were attacked by mainly coloured people. That has to make us suspicious, unsure and disliking of a different coloured skin. Life would be fab if we all just got on and didnt become so obsessed with colour of skin but we protect our own and who can blame us at the end of day.

Hmm, "racism" needs to be replaced by more meaningful terms.

There is no obvious correlation with Race and colour, someone may like one group of Asians - and not another (eg: like Indian and dislike a Japanese person), colour may be about the same.

I vote for "chromist" as a term for colour prejudice :)

On a serious note, "positive discrimination" I think fuels more racial tension than folks who practice it may suspect. The other thing I would suggest is that racism is NOT an exclusively white problem - thought that may be a politically incorrect point to make :)

Racism does not have to be just about colour. Consider this;

When you are cold or in shock you can look grey, when you are hot or embarrased you can look red, you can be described as "yellow bellied" or be "purple with rage" and "green with envy" and look "chalk white" or you can be in a "black mood" or "feeling blue" or "in the pink" and people often say I am feeling "off colour" now what colour would that be, actually?

variety is the spice of life and spices are all colours, time we spent more time tasting life rather than spitting on it

You belittle this huge issue.
It is about what is in the heads of some rather than what is on the outside of the body.
What caused the youth of Pakistani origin to plant bombs on the London Underground?
A valid political system exists, which the vast majority use to show their opinions. Demonstrate, join a local political party, meet your local councillor, see you local MP. Was any of this tried by these extremists?

Very true. Spend all their time moaning about coloured people and try to look like them not just with a tan but with clothes, talk, etc etc. It's a funny old world and no mistake.

Well is it really about race ? I think if all the Black people on the planet emigrated to the Moon, there would certainly be another racial group to replace them in Society as a target for someone to have a go at, so just relax and free your mind.

People like this are ignorant and just trying to fit in with whom they think are the "in crowd", and by following this crowd, they won't stand out (in their shallow minds) as stupid or weak. This push-pull (controlling, yet being controlled) attitude is taught from a very young age and it is sad to see. The more people try to segregate themselves from other "races", the more hypocritical they become. Something to think about for all those trying to promote a "pure" race when there is none -even if it did matter.

Tanning your skin color does not change your culture or your personality. Racism stems from insecurity of one's own culture or ignorance about another's.

Not only that, but no matter how tan a person gets, they will never look like (or act like) another race. Hope this helps.

I don't quite understand your question? You mean white people trying to look black by laying out? When we lay out in the sun we don't get as brown as african americans.Usualy pink,red or lightly brown. Doesn't mean we are a racist!!
