WWF's biennial report on the state of the natural world said humanity will be using double the available resources by 2050, unless the amount used and the waste produced is significantly reduced
Countries with the largest ecological footprint a person are the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Finland, Canada, Kuwait, Australia, Estonia, Sweden, New Zealand and Norway. China is ranked 69th but its size and rapid economic growth make it a key player for the sustainable use of the world's resources, the report said.

"Scientific reports are indicating we will have no corals left by 2050," said Jude Bijoux, the Manager of the Seychelles Centre for Marine Research and Technology. "We lost 90 percent of them in 1998 and the little that was left is apparently under frequent threat."

Are we going to war because we are running out of everything ? There are too many people on the planet and not enough to go around for all 8 billion or so of us ?

Oil is running out the climate is undergoing massive change (don't care why or how or who might be responsible ) ..

Without some sort of massive population control ie war we are going to need two or three planet earths to sustain our consumption - Or we need to get rid of 2/3 of the planet so some of us can keep on out consuming our past records?

Yes , if that is the way some choose to measure sucess . But they (the ominous they) have missed the point of money then .

Money is only as valuable as the service or product it can provide . 2$ = a lb of butter - money in itself is worthless with no product or service to buy . The way things are going the guy with a billion dollars isn't goint to be any better off than the guy with nothing . If any sort of chain reaction is set off in nature production may grind to a halt.

A million dollars can only buy you a coffee table if you have a tree to make it out of

I guess we are not taking very good care of our planet, good thing I won't be around to see it but we are headed for calamity's like none other. I feel sorry for my descendants that they will have to deal with our mistakes. Some day the truth will hurt.

Antother ozone hole? Many years ago we were concerned with a hole over Antarctica. Thankfully the hole just repaired itself. However, I am in to Science and particularly Astronomy and they haven't made ONE MENTION of an ozone hole or a crisis in Natual resource. Not one. So IF there is a hole I hope it follows in suit like the last one and just repairs itself.
Sorry to get off topic. No, I believe the reason we went to war is a little more twisted that just oil.

Oil men would want to keep the price of oil as high as possible, and in that respect they have been successful.

If there's only two people on the planet, there still won't be enough to go round. There's always going to be war.
