Don't you believe it. If you want a P.I. to investigate something like murder you can hire one. In Michigan it may cost you $50-75 an hr. for a good one. Good ones ( That have contacts and resources they share with police) don't come cheap. I would be glad to handle it for you for free as a retired Former Chief of Police who has a background in medicine, but I'm too many miles away. besides I'm already tied up on one where a young sailor was murdered by someone on the Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan several years ago. Check with some of the local Law Enforcement people in your area and see if they can hook you up. They may know someone like myself who would be willing to do it for free even. I do it to help others and keep my mind sharp at the same time. I'm not Bruce Willis and able to jump over tall buildings in a single bound anymore, but guys like me are very thorough. Of course anything the guy finds will have to be shared with law enforcement due to the nature of the investigation. That's why you need someone who is able to work along side of the authorities.

I know in Grand Rapids they charge case by case. If it had to do with murder, there would no longer be a "private"... investigator. Is there something you need to tell us???

Most likely $30-$50/hr.
