there are lots of theories about this, you can look them up on yahoo but I will just give you some facts that I can recall

1. the word Friday originated from the Norse god "Frigga" the god of love and sex (I'm not joking!) and men, feeling threatened and being their typical sexist selves made Friday into a bad day

2. Friday the 13th was the day that the leader of the Knights Templar in the middle ages was executed

3. 13 is an unlucky # already. 13 people at Jesus' last Supper.

4. Sailors will not set sail on Friday. The british once made a ship called Friday, the captain's last name was Friday and it set sail on Friday, with 13 people on it, and guess what? the ship sailed off and was never heard from again!

That's all the friggin' facts that I can remember :-)

The first recorded incident relating to Friday the 13th refers to the massacre of the Knights Templar on Friday October 13, 1307. Forces of Philip IV of France were instructed to open letters that morning, giving them orders to seek out and arrest all known members of the Knights, slaughter those that resisted, and capture Jacques DeMolay, the last known Grand Master of the Knights Templar.

Another possible origin relates to the Last Supper. Judas, the thirteenth guest, was instrumental in the Crucifixion of Jesus, which is believed to have happened on a Friday. Other theories offered suggest that Eve offered the apple to Adam on a Friday or the slaying of Abel happened on a Friday.
