So lets say I do decide to change the title, would I be legally able to use that as a character's name then?

There can be infringement of the Copyright Law due to the use of the same title of the movie. Anyway, look at the provisions of the law if it is not applicable in your country.

Check with the Library of Congress - Patent and Trademark regristration department.

Ask if the name "Roboman" has been licensed by them as a Patent or Trademark.

If it hasn't you may want to check with the State that the movie was produced in and check with the Secretary of State about their licensining of Trademarks accordingly.

Good Luck!

I can't find any mention of a movie called "Roboman" on the Internet Movie Database.

There was Robocop, is it possible that you're mistaken on the title?

It doesn't matter. Roboman? Are you really going to call your game that. No offense but it sounds really bad.

I'm no lawyer, but I imagine to save on trouble and money (from retaining a lawyer), you could contact whoever has rights to that movie and ask if it's okay....

Hope this helps!
