it's a real tug-of-war opening and closing my drapes. i was wondering if there was some type of lubricant that could do the job with becoming a dust catcher....which in turn would bing me back to my original problem

hmm try to use smooth edged curtain rods of lesser diameter. Also use curtain rings. this should help

Basic wax paper. I used it when I worked retail. It helped when sliding more clothing on a rolling and display rack. The racks were metal, if you manually open and close the drapes...this works well. Manually anyway. Try it if it is not a manual rod, give it a try and see if you get anywhere. It will not collect dust, this I know for certain. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be.
Hang in there...get it? Groan! lol :0

no lubricant...too messy. If rod is in good condition and drape eyelets as well then all should be good, unless drapes are too heavy. make sure the rod is single diameter full length or else the drapes will catch at telescoping part.

spray the rod with furniture polish then wipe or use olive oil on a duster and wipe, it will help drapes run smooth
