yes, euros and dollars are preferred there, but always keep some egyptian pounds with u.
my advice to u, always bargain, u'll save alot:)
about the must do and must see, u don wanna miss diving and snorkling in the red sea, its an unforgettable experience, there is a whole new world down under, dont miss it.
also try to go on a safari to ras mohamed, climb the mountains and u can dive there too.
ask the hotel reception or ur tour guide to spend a night with the beduins there.
i went there before and it was amazing, the beduins are very generous people, u can dine with them, they make the best meat in the world, they cook it in the sand, unbelievable taste. the mountains there were lit by thousands of candles, u dont wanna miss that, but its better when ur in a group of friends or family.
hope u enjoy ur trip, i'm sure u will:)

I am going to Sharm in December can't wait. I have actually been there twice before and the people are happy to take Egyptian Pounds - this is the only currency I have used in Sharm. You must do the obvious - snorkelling or diving - spectacular. Also take a trip to the dessert at night - it is fantastic. I have also done a trip to an oasis which was really nice and four wheel driving in the desert. I sure whatever you do you will have a fab time and like most who have been there will want to go back.

Yes they prefer dollars or English pounds, they are in short supply and sometimes when a company wants to buy something from the US or UK they have to get them by the black market.

The people sometimes insist on US$ or £sterling, possibly Euros too. I think it's because they can charge more if you don't know know the exchange rate.
It depends where you go, more of a tourist trap it is the more likely they are to demand foreign curency.
