i want to know how yahoo manages his very large group of clients by providing them with enough memory for storage purposes.if they do so it might cost them so much memory which is not possible to manage or very difficult to manage.. so i want a brief explanation describing the method they follow to cope up with this complex problem.. if anyone could answer this i will be very pleased and very thankful to them.. hoping for a good reply soon.. thank you..

Hi Kumar,

The concept goes like this. It is called as Virtual Memory.

It is not like 1GB of space is allocated to you. The memory is given as and when you use it. There is another thing that has to be considered like it is not possible for everyone o consume the 1GB allocated to them....

it is more like space is shared between all the users.....if a person deletes his/her acccount that space is free and adds to the virtual memory.....

This is done in a belief that not all users at a time can consume the whole space.....

It is competition that has forced Yahoo to give this kind of memory (space) for email. Further the space is required on server and with passage of time, the servers have become cheap and hence the facility. Moreover, giving more space has resulted in retaining more clients and thereby more ads income.

have you see the storage memory place of yahoo company? if you see, there will be no doubt! it is huge like a big building!

it is all virtual. remember all the users of yahoo will not be using 1 GB of memory at the same time. it is all gimmics. advertising tactics.
