I think it has motivated the fans more than the Cards. I also think La Russa handled the whole thing real well. I am a Cards fan, I have always been, and La Russa said he talked to the ump, Rogers washed his hands. Problem solved. Even though I hate to admit it, he pitched a great game after the whole hand incident.

There is some dispute about whether the substance was completely removed from his hand. The umpire did not check his hand or the substance that was on it; he merely had a conversation with Rogers about it. Considering the same type of substance was seen on his hands in the League Championship Series, makes it suspicious that he would again have almost exactly the same kind of mark on his hand in the World Series.
With this said, I don't know if he cheated, but there was talk on sports radio yesterday, that substances exists (similar to pine tar, i.e. iodine) that even when the color is washed off, the sticky residue remains. If you saw the picture of Rogers hand after he "cleaned" it, it does appear that a residue remains. He must not be a very good hand washer.
I think the Cardinals have gotten past it. I don't think its motivation because the Cardinals seem to believe that after the 1st inning Rogers wasn't cheating..

I don't think the incident has motivated the Cardinals. I do think that it is another black eye for baseball. I have little or no respect for MLB hierarchy after the steroid fiasco. Remember the only reason they have a steroid drug policy is because Congress forced it down their throat. One could easily surmise that MLB hierarchy had previously turned its back on the issue because they liked the offense it provided. The so-called substance on Rogers thumb and the way it was handled is such a nonchalant manner just further erodes what little integrity is left with MLB.

That kind of stuff has been going on in Baseball for like forever, every pitcher does it,ever batter does something to get an edge. If you are are true baseball fan you should already know this.Like the saying goes its not cheating if you dont get caught. But I think that the Cardinals motivation comes from the 04 series, and the fact that this bunch of players will probably wont be together again.WIN today for tomorrow we DIE

Who said Kenny Rogers cheated? The Media? If the media told you the sky was falling would you beleve them?
Tony Larussa NEVER asked the umpires to check Rogers, so we'll never know exactly what was on his hand.
Dont get all pissy with Kenny, you should be upset with Larussa for not having Rogers looked at.
IF St Louis loses the series, it would fall squarely on Tony Larussa head---NOT Kenny Rogers.
That's a fact. Deal with it.

I doubt it pondering as quickly as they requested him to bathe off the alleged substance, the St Louis Cardinals could no longer hit him, in simple terms the the different twenty third consecutive innings wherein no-one has been able to attain a run off him in this post-season. So any substance or question of cheating grew to become into in simple terms picked up in the time of one innings of 23 innings and that i dont think of Mr Kenny Rogers mandatory it as he has teach he can sing with the baseball and dance throughout maximum suitable hitters interior the league. So examine out the information and and substance grew to become into got rid of and didnt effect his overall performance. It St Louis who sounds like they could could desire to cheat to get lower back in this Seires? i will see that from Australia mate

He didn't cheat. If they thought it was a foreign substance he would have been ejected from the game immediately and not allowed to pitch for the rest of the series. There is no way of proving what was on his hand. He was asked informally to clean it off and he did so after the FIRST INNING. Explain the next 7 innings to me if he is such a cheater.

Don't think the Cards care. Tony has taken a no big deal attitude about the whole thing to keep his team focused on winning not whining.
