I guess stress should be putted as a diagnoses of a modern age. Yes stress can be a trigger to many bad things, also stroke. He better seek for health professionals, to get all the possible help he needs. All you can do is just give him support and let him know you care and that he can go through this.

stroke, also known as cerebrovascular accident (CVA),[1] is an acute neurologic injury in which the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted. That is, stroke involves sudden loss of neuronal function due to disturbance in cerebral perfusion. This disturbance in perfusion is commonly arterial, but can be venous.
The part of the brain with disturbed perfusion no longer receives adequate oxygen. This initates the ischemic cascade which causes brain cells to die or be seriously damaged, impairing local brain function. Stroke is a medical emergency and can cause permanent neurologic damage or even death if not promptly diagnosed and treated. It is the third leading cause of death and adult disability in the United States and industrialized European nations. On average, a stroke occurs every 45 seconds and someone dies every 3 minutes. Of every 5 deaths from stroke, 2 occur in men and 3 in women. [citation needed]
Risk factors include advanced age, hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes mellitus, high cholesterol, and cigarette smoking. Cigarette smoking is the most important modifiable risk factor of stroke.
not directly stress wont cause a stroke but if they have high blood pressure and stress makes it go up also smoking and everything else yes they could have another stroke..but my grandma had a stroke she lived over 10 yrs with it only gaining partial movement and slurred speach she had stress, diabetes and she died in 97 of aneurysm so Its really 50/50 you know.. its good to avoid stress if at all possible anyway. well Good Luck and best of luck to your friend

Stress in life can cause strokes. A stressful job or family can cause issues with the heart and blood pressure as well. I suggest teaching your friend new ways of coping with stress. This will help aid him when things become stressful.

tell your friend to go see a good cardio-vascular surgeon and pay close attention to what the dr says , these days with proper monitoring and exercise and drug called plavix, strokes can be almost be completely eliminated, and with that goes the worry and all the stress that caused the stroke in the first place
