My car horn has been sounding pretty sad since sunday. What would make a car horn die?

Modern car horns are plastic cheep things. Your car may have a low tone and high tone two horns.

I know one time out of frustration, I beat on my car horn and basically killed it (it was an old car though). If you have a warranty, take it back to the dealer and have it checked out. Heck, if you have only had it three weeks, I would still take it back and get it checked out. I wouldn't think for an '04 that it should be doing that, maybe the horn is just a lemon! Other than that, I don't know why it would do that unless the former owner abused the heck out of it. Good luck!

it's usually one of the electrical connections at the horn.

They tend to be in places that get wet, so find yourr horn & clean the connections with a fine piece of sandpaper.

If you ony have one wire going to it, then the connection to the chassis is acting as the earth, and you'll have to make sure that it is sound too, by unbolting it and cleaning it

If it's not this put a volt meter across the horn connections, and sound the horn. If it shows 12V then go to a scrap yard and get another. if 12V doens't show then it might be the switch in the car cabin, or a broken wire

let's hope it's rust connections :0)

ahhhhhh......chevrolet.Well there is your problem........seriously though a car horm has a diaphram inside it that vibrates on electrical impulses generated by a coil of wire similar to a speaker.Over a period of time, this coil can become weak and eventually break or stretch which keeps it from working.Trash or water can also get into it and cause it to eventually short out also. The replacement horn can be purchased at any auto parts store and they are fairly cheap and very easy to replace. Most of them are only 1 or 2 wires depending on the type of grounding system used and most are held on by only 1 or 2 bolts.

Take it back to the dealer or car lot you bought it from if you've only had the car that long.
