When I was 8 we lived out in the country in Louisiana. We had very little in the way of material things but we were rich in love. That Christmas all I wanted was a little toy red tractor. What I got was some blue jeans, a sweater and some oranges.
On Christmas Eve my Father built a huge fire in the fire place and we all (there were six of us) sat around the fire while he read the Christmas story to us from the family Bible. I never got the little red toy tractor but I did get something much more dear. A lasting love of family and tradition. I am now 65 and every Christmas Eve I build a huge fire in my fire place and read the Christmas story to my rather large extended family from the same Bible my father read from to us all those years ago.
I am now very affluent but I have never forgotten the time we got the greatest gift of all which was my mother and father's love.

I wanted a mini-bike, but never dared to hope or ask for one. What I usually got were cheap camping supplies that I never got to use, such as a canteen, a flashlight, a knife-spoon-fork camping combination, junk like that. What I wanted was a mini-bike and there's no way I was going to get one.
I guess they were training me for real life at an early age.

Many years ago, a radio. Santa brought me the radio, but my folks didn't take much to the music I listened to (rock and roll) -so they made me swap it out for a doll.
Thanks for making me think and remember back to those good old days! Have a great day! :-)

don't remember, that was a long time ago. I really didn't play with a lot of toys anyway, I was always outside running around, and in trees.
