3 days ago pulled out my 2 sticks of pc2700 each 512, and installed 2 sticks of PNY 1g pc3200. Wow, a huge difference in games and working in my p2p/share. (but it wasn't REALLY that big ...)
But a RAM increase this much seems like it would generate more heat, could I find an internal fan to clip onto the case for them?
and what kind of power source would it have?

I have had no crashes, lock-up's, or anything...also, I have everything cased in an Antec aluminum, and this thing has 2 front, and 2 rear fans that move air like mad.
But it was the general principle of preventitive measure as for if I should or need to cool them specificly or not. Thx for input.

I don't see a heat problem here at all. If your 2 case fans are moving the air properly, you should be just fine. Just make sure the inside of the PC, the fans, power supply, etc. are clean and free of dust.

Additionally, depending on your MoBo, you may not have any more places to connect a fan.

If things are running fine I would do nothing.

Although, what you might do is to reboot your PC after it has been running for an hour or so and watch during boot up for what temperature your CPU is at. This will give you a clue about overall temps.

Also, if your RAM came with no recommendation for cooling it I wouldn't worry.

If RAM temp is really concerning you, you might take a look at buying heatsinks for the RAM sticks instead of adding another fan.

Hope this helps.

When it comes to cooling a nice system it's always better to be safe than sorry. Get another fan and increase the air flow...
As for power source, it's hard to say, I don't know what other components you have. But if you have a 400W or better you should be fine for now... a fan won't make that much difference.

the quick answer is particular you could installation a fan/mild combination on your bathing room yet listed below are the failings you're able to desire to contemplate previously finding out to purchase a fan. one million) in case you do no longer choose for to place in greater wiring then you definately can cord the mild and fan mutually interior the fan fixture itself. once you swap the swap the two mild and fan would be on on a similar time. (i'm guessing which you're changing an latest ceiling mild with a fan). To have them run one after the other you will might desire to place in a 2d wall swap and wiring to the fan. 2) you're able to desire to be attentive to the size of your bathing room-- sq. ft of area (length X width) on account that followers are bought via the quantity of air they flow (stated in CFM) locate one that strikes a minimum of as lots using fact the area (squareft) of your bathing room. manufacturers are Nautilus, Braun, etc. yet maximum shops have reflects the place you could run the followers-- seem for the quietest one 3) you will might desire to diminish a hollow interior the ceiling to place in the fan-- maximum fan housings are sq. and are fixed to the joists interior the ceiling. you will no longer be attentive to what length of hollow to diminish till you have chosen the fan. 4) the final way is to vent by the roof (they sell kits for this) yet ensure you flash and seal it properly or you have a leak from the roof whilst it rains. you additionally can vent it by the component of the homestead yet that demands making a ninety degree turn with the vent pipe so if it is so then get an exceedingly better fan (greater CFM) to flow the air out of the bathing room. have relaxing and good luck

Normally memory does not have to be cooled. If it has been running for 3 days without a crash r lock up, then it shold be fine. If it was overheating, you would be having all kinds of crash, lock up or mystery reboots.

it is wise to have additional cooling system for your pc. actually ram don't really need that because the more ram you installed doesn't mean more heat it'll generate. one of the main reason that will generate more heat from your pc is gaming. if your pc precious to you, install extra cooling fan or any kind of suitable cooling system.

If you've only just installed extra RAM there shouldn't be any need for any extra cooling, unless you overclock your ram. If thats the case then I would look into getting extra cooling for your RAM chips.

Only the CPU gets hot and needs cooling fan.

you dont "NEED" a fan or any other type of cooling device on your new ram, unless youre overclocking...but i doubt u are. you can go buy a couple heat sinks to glue onto your ram...thatd be cheap and effective

no, more RAM doesn not noticably increase the heat generated.
