sounds like you've lost the drivers for your graphics card ... do a "Microsoft Update" from their webpage and the drivers should download ... or if you know the exact chipset of your graphics go to the manufactures website
Worst case scenario is the card itself has died ... hold 1 minutes silence in rememberence ..then go buy another card

It looks like a video driver problem re-install the driver. If this fails then buy another video card and attach it to the computer duly deactivating the original mother board driver ( if it is inbuilt) and intall its driver and your problem should be solved. The best thing however would be to call the monitor service engineer first to confirm that nothing is wrong with your monitor .

right click on your desktop go to properties then go to settings
you should be able to change the size from there
when your done hit apply

You should be able to make adjustments through your monitor to fit the screen inside your viewing area, a higher resolution should make it smaller too
