Dennis Hastert says the House ethics committee should quickly determine whether officials took proper action after learning of ex-Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record)'s overly friendly and salacious computer messages to former male pages.

I do not think that Hastert took the right action, since he knew about it for almost 3 years. Do you think that Hastert is trying to get away with the fact that he did not do his job or protect teens from Mark Foley's behaviour, advances and sexual exploitation of Minors?

He absolutely did not take appropriate action.

First, Hastert did not know about "pedophile behavior" for three years. He did not know about "salacious computer messages" for three years. What he DID know about was an email asking a former page, WHO WAS 18 at the time, for a picture and what he wanted for Christmas, for three years. He only knew about it because the parents asked Hastert to tell Foley to stop emailing the former page.

I think the appropriate question should be, which democratic staffer knew about the instant messages and salacious emails and withheld that information until it was most politically advantageous to release it to the press.

It was the salacious instant messages and emails that were released by some anonymous democratic staffer to the press. And they knew about it since April.

Hastert is going to stand by his claim that he didn't know untill Foley resigned. Probably this is what his lawyer is telling him to do. It will take sometime to determine and confirm everybody's story on this. Hastert probably knew about it. Just too many in the congress knew about this and unless he was in North Pole till Foley scandal broke out its hard to believe he didn't know about it.

The question is what did he know, and when did he know it. It appears that he is attempting to deny any knowledge prior to the very recent revelations. If that is true, I don't see how we could blame him.

I, however, think he knew, and think that he is covering it up. If that is the case, he needs to go. Too many people from his own party say he knew. Somebody is not telling the truth. I bet that what happens is that, soon after the election, assuming the Republicans lose control of the House, he resigns.

draw close on - i presumed Mark Foley became only a gay who befell to be a wide hypocrite. even as did this pedophile organisation come out??? enable's get genuine for a sec.. The conservative kink of decision is rape fantasies and brutal draw close domination stuff. Which they have been prevalent to take too far in circumstances of drugging and raping their women human beings. That want for wicked administration extending previous in basic terms fantasy and into attack. those youthful republican frat activities are a detrimental position for women human beings. and then they marry absolutely one of those men and the wheels quite come off! not that this applies to all conservatives. i'm in basic terms commenting on their stereotypical kink.

I don't have enough information yet about who knew what when, but if Hastert did indeed know about the Foley mess, he should have acted. If it is shown he knew earlier, he should be thrown out.
