It is her decision and like many other such private things one tends to be suspicious when there is a large publicity campaign about it. I would like to think that Madonna did it for good loving reasons, but should one make such private things so public????

For everyone who is poo-pooing the whole Madonna adopting a child thing, think of this:
We were not there when she met that child.
We were not there when she met that father.

We have no way of knowing what her motivations are. There is a legitimate chance that she is "jumping on the bandwagon," yes. BUT, there is also the chance that she really fell in love with this child.

Despite what anyone says or wants to believe, she WAS there (on more than one occasion) to raise awareness about AIDS, and poverty. She WAS in that country more than once to donate money. So, no I don't believe she just decided, "Hey I want to buy a child." Madonna is not that stupid!

We don't know what actually occured over there. But what we as outsiders CAN ascertain is that Madonna visited the country to raise awareness, donated her own time and money, and throughout the process created a great bond with the child's father, and WITH HIS APPROVAL, decided to adopt. She probably legitimately fell in love with that child. She probably legitimately wants to help that child. She probably legitimatley wants to help the world one person at a time.

Despite what anyone's personal disapproval may be, the woman is intelligent, a very shrewd business woman, devoted to Humanitarian efforts (and has been so all throughout her career), and is NO FOOL! I'm sure she weighed the pros and cons of this adoption before diving head first into what some people are considering to be a "follow the pack" type of ploy.

Unless one is directly involved in this matter, then one should reserve any judgment. The child will suffer a greater damage having to grow up in world, where everybody looks at him like a "purchase," rather than a human being. I'm confident that in Madonna's mind, she saw the humanity in this child, not a tool for self-promotion.

I don't know but this is only my opinion but I think the whole thing feels so phony. I think she is just trying to go along with the trend for publicity purposes. I remember years ago Madonna actually started many trends that everyone else in Hollywood started copying. I remember it used to be taboo for a unmarried Hollywood actress to have children but when Madonna had children, it seem everyone in Hollywood could not wait to have children and when Madonna started publicizing Yoga and Kabbalah, everyone jumped on the band wagon. Also, I remember there were many famous women that started to put fake moles on their faces when she was sporting the mole on her face. I am stating this just to say that she is just keeping up with the times on what is hot just like others imitated her when she was the it person in showbiz. I hope it is for the right reasons because there are unfortunate children in this world that need a loving home. Oh yeah, for her say on the matter, she is suppose to appear on Oprah today to talk about it and you could make your own judgements of the situation.

If the father of the child didn't understand completly what the adoption was about it's absolutly wrong. If she is really doing it to make the child's life better its a great thing, but if she's doing it just to get publicity, it's more wrong than the father not understanding about the adoption.

I suppose she has some king of right to have kids, but believe me it's much nicer for the malawian gal, bcz, moving from no food to all kinds of food and loads of love it makes all the difference in life, and there are so many children who need parents in Africa you wouldn't believe me if i told you, even though madona doesn't strike me as your average parent!!!BUT AM HAPPY FOR THE KID(S).Aren't you?? psh. Madonna's just trying to save her career.
She wants to have some sort of "cause" to boost her humanitarian outlook.
She's just another Angelina Jolie or Bono wannabe.
Lame, Madonna.
