It's not as easy as catch them and throw them out. The illegal immigrant population in this country is estimated to be at least 10 million people. That is a lot of people to catch and throw out. Imagine if 10 million people suddenly disappeared from the work force. Barron's did an article maybe a year ago about this black market economy, you should see if you can find it. The problem is with things like NAFTA and the wars in in Central America in the 80's, these people just feel better off coming here. Some spend thousands just to get here and from what I've heard, it's not an easy trip. What makes it difficult is that big business profits from illegal labor probably more than small business. The restaurant business would collapse without it. And I bet there are quite a few Congressmen and Congresswomen who employ illegals as cooks, gardener's, etc.. in there homes. Something really does need to be done though because the problem has been largely ignored.

Okay, but to what ends.

Already, thousands of tons of fruit has rotted in the fields and on the vines throughout the major agricultural states because they couldn't hire enough pickers this season.

So, price of many fruits will be rising.

My question back is how do we cover those losses and those costs?

I'm not against what you say, but I have yet to see a single person who believes what you believe provide an answer to the economic impact question.

That's exactly what we are doing. Where I live, they have closed down 3 Chinese restaurants because the employees there were here illegally. See? It's not only the Mexican people we are seeking...
