There are miscarriages where the baby will not pass naturally and a D&C will be necessary to make sure that the miscarriage is complete. There will also be instances where the tissue that accompanies the baby will not pass naturally and, then again, a D&C could be necessary.

When I had my miscarriage in August, however, everything passed naturally and no D&C was necessary.

It all depends on how your body processes the miscarriage.

Good luck.

It depends. If it is early on, usually it will. You would have heavy cramping & bleeding and the embryonic tissue would probably be a part of that.

I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks and when I got to the hospital, the baby was no longer there. The cramping and bleeding were so bad that I didn't even know.

If not all of the tissue is lost, you sometimes need to have a d&c to clear out your uterus. If, after a miscarriage, you continue to have heavy bleeding or the bleeding gets heavier, get medical help quickly. I had to have an emergency d&c despite the fact that my miscarriage appeared to be complete. Fortunately, everything was OK & I went on to have 2 more children since then.

Not nessarly, most of the time a miscarriage is a clot containing everything but you should always go to the doctor to get an ultrasound to make sure it has all come away. But I haven't had a miscarriage that has come away by itself so I can't say for sure.

But with my miscarriage, I was 18 weeks thinking everything was normal going to my routine ultrasound, and found out the baby had died at 13 weeks, I had no bleeding no symptons nothing, so I was rushed for a D&C to extracted the baby, during the procedure they missed the linning of the placenta which had to come away by itself, That was a painful couple of days, and It came out as a huge clot. It was horrible.

If you're under 14 weeks, the baby, placenta and related tissues normally come out with a miscarriage. If you're over 14 weeks, you may have to have a D&C to remove the baby or tissues if they don't all come out, which they normally won't when you're farther than 14 weeks. If the pregnancy is over it's 25th week, the chances of anything coming out are slim and they may have to induce labor to get the baby out.
