I've had that happen to me when the secret question was one from a drop down list, and I chose "what was the street you grew up on?" I had chosen that one as the least difficult, but it proved worse than I thought. I then had to remember where, of all the places I had lived, I decided at that time was the one "I grew up on." The second time I went to the site was much later -- months, if not years -- and so I had forgotten what password I used. So I retrieved the "secret question," and put in Ridge Avenue, where I lived from age 8 to 15. After going through the hassle of contacting the web site and retrieving it, it turns out I had used the place where I lived when I first met My Steve. This was because I never really grew up before I met him, but I was 38 at the time! LOL
Moral to the story: choose a question you won't have to second-guess yourself to answer later!

You can try but you probably won't get this back. You can change your password easier perhaps. Start with your I.D. Give yourself a new email address, a new password.
