Gloss means "shine." High gloss has a very shiny surface, and low gloss has a dull, matted surface. The reason the wood is showing through has nothing to do with gloss. You simply have to give it another coat, that's all.

Probably need another coat. Some claim 1 coat coverage but the consumer magazines finds only two or three brands of certain colors can make that claim honestly.
Hi gloss would just make it a shiny deck like it just rained and probably be a little slick. I think low gloss or flat would be best.

Gloss means a shiney finish & cleans easyer, I think u should have used a sealer if it's an outside deck 1st & u should have primed it with a thinned out coat 1st. so the paint would sink in & seal, so the 2nd. coat would hide everything. I afraid ur paint will all peel off by Spring, but look @ the brite side, u can do it right next time, in the summer.

Perhaps the deck needs a second coat. Unpainted wood will absorb most of the first coat and this might be what is happening. Glossiness should not be a factor, since this is just an indication of how shiny the paint will be when dry, but if it is soaking in a lot this could cause glossy paint to looks spotty.

You probably just put it on to thin. Put another coat on it. High gloss is a high shine, semi gloss is a medium shine, satin is a light shine and flat is no shine.

If this is unpainted wood, I hope you used a "Primer" as the first coat. If not, it will probably peel in a year or so. For unpainted wood, you should use a primer as first coat then second coat should be regular paint.

you shouldnt really paint your decking at al cos it will blister and peel and you will only have to do it again and again and again, if it is only a small part deck, get a sander and sand the paint off that use a decking stain looks great. and lasts a lot longer that paint.
