I have removed the top part but now left with the backing, it is very sticky has anyone got some ideas how to rmove it effortlessly? i have used hot soapy water + hot vinegar water this hasnt helped.

I would try some baby oil - it dissolves basic solvents, but it's going to leave a greasy mark if you spill it, so be careful.

If it is a smooth surface like ceramic tiles then using a sharp scraper will peel it away with no effort at all, if you wet the sticky border as well it will make it even easier. This leaves no mess and no risk to your carpet or furniture. Think the scrapers can be bought and any half-decent home store. Be careful though, they're sharp!

Depends on what the sticky stuff is on. A hard syrface? I would use charcoal lighter fluid on a paper towel. This has worked well for me. I have also used gasoline but only outdoors away from the house.

nail varnish remover see if that helps

if not washing up liguid and a scrubbing brush but after each time dry the surfice that way your removing a layer of sticky each time not moving it from one part of the wall to another

Use white spirit (not meths), it will remove the sticky but not any paint from the wall. If you don;t have white spirit use nail varnish remover as that is the same stuff.

It will definately work

try a baby wipe, they get just about anything off.
