Ours have been up since June.
Actually normally about the first week in December, thats because it takes me all that time to climb up all the trees my darling wife identifies as needing lights.
I have a plan after christmas though, I'm taking down the lights with a chainsaw.

It is not bad luck. But it seems to take the meaning out of Christmas if decorations are put up too early. I wait until about the first week in December and take them down after the New year celebrations.Only commerce pushes everyone to start early and I think that Christmas is spoilt by thrusting all the gifts and decorations in front of us in the middle of October.

It's a personal choice. I feel we need to get through Halloween and Thanksgiving first. The stores have everyone rushing to do it early and aren't allowing people to enjoy Thanksgiving first and what it truely means. We should be thankful we are able to celebrate whatever holidays we want, when we want in this great country. I have never heard of the bad luck thing?!!!

Nah - it's not bad luck - but you might get sick of them.
I can't wait to put mine up but am going to hold on until 1st December
Happy Christmas!

i would wait until after thanksgiving, it can be the day after, but i wouldn't put them up before.
The stores already have theirs out and i think its so tacky because Halloween isn't even here yet.

On the First of December!! When my children have their Advent Calenders this is when we begin to get in the Christmas Spirit!!

im not sure when we do them around the 15th/16th december i think maybe slightly earlier then take them down around the 6th of jan.
its only bad luck if you believe in it, i have seen a few houses ner me with them up since september, which is way to early, but if you want to put them up go for it, aslong as you wont get sick of them
