because no one knows ...isn't my guess just as valid as some dead(probably illiterate) carpenter

1) Just because you do not know, that does not mean that nobody knows. Do not be so narcissistic to think that.
2) By "dead carpenter," I can only assume you are referring to Jesus. As Jesus was a rabbi, he was most definitely literate. Your ignorance here is astounding!

I have no trouble with you walking your own spiritual path, and I pray that you find your way to the light. However, just because you are blind, do not tell me that the light does not exist.

Makes sense to me. In a more logical world, eveyrone would develop their own ideas on religion and the afterlife, but people would invariably begin to adopt the ideas of others and over time they would mutate into standard religious faiths again.
People have a wide array of reasons for wanting to belong to a faith. Some are scared, some are incapable of free philisophical thought, some truly believe, some just feel they should and some seek easy answers to difficult questions. There will always be religions, always.

Nope, there is only one religion in the Holy Bible, and that is Christianity.

The word religion is from the Greek word religio, which means to hold back, keep down and restrain. That is exactly what the religions of the world have done to us as a people. They have held us back, kept us down and weakened us as a people by dividing us up into different religions and nationalities.

I Corinthians 1:10-13 says:
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? …”

So based upon this very scripture in The Holy Bible it can be clearly seen that Jesus Christ never set up these religions that our people are now divided by, such as Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, 7-Day Adventist, etc. What God gave us to follow is His laws and commandments, found in The Holy Bible, to hold us back and restrain us from evil.

Yes and no.
There is exactly one true Religion from the One True God for all the true seekers.
There is for each of the rest of humankind one so-called religion which suits his definition and his special taste - and for no common purpose.

If everyone wanted to believe what they believe and not what's closest to the truth. Still people can agree on what truth is and so comes religion.

I mean...just look at the Catholic Church. 1.1 billion world wide, all agreeing on the same tenets of faith. ^_^
